Linwood Lee Scarbrough

Linwood Lee Scarbrough, 88 passed into eternity on Friday, December 2, 2011 at his home in Wade surrounded by his beloved family and friends. He heard the voice he longed to hear say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Mr. Scarbrough was born January 11, 1923 in Jackson County, Mississippi. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II having served at Whiting Field in Pensacola, Florida. He was retired from the maintenance department after thirty years of service with Thiokol Chemical/Rohm-Hass in Moss Point and worked many industrial construction projects as a pipefitter. At the time of his death, he was a member in good standing with Steam Fitters Local 198 of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mr. Scarbrough was a lifelong, faithful member of Caswell Springs United Methodist Church. He served on the administrative board and various other committees. He was an active member of the choir and always willing to serve his church family. He was a humble man and best known for his loving Godly spirit. "Sadly, the true measure of a man is rarely how man is measured". Mr. Scarbrough was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and often said he hoped he never got too old to enjoy a sunset. He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Addie L. Parker Scarbrough; step-mother, Dora Scarbrough; brother, Buddy Scarbrough; sisters, Yvonne Goff, Lucille Parker Tanner, Aidalaide Scarbrough; and infant twins, Irene and Ione Scarbrough. Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Anna Lee Holland Scarbrough; devoted son, George Scarbrough and wife Ella; brother, Denvil Scarbrough; sisters, Odean Cumbest, Jo Ann Jenkins and husband Roy, Nancy Kalifeh and husband Alan; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be Monday, December 5, 2011 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Caswell Springs United Methodist Church in Wade. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm from the church with Rev. Brian Scott, Rev. H.W. Parker and Rev. Jim Fisher officiating. Interment will follow at Caswell Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wade. Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Cumbest, Gene Moody, Warren Pierce, W.L. Jones, Bennie Goff and Roger Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Carroll Rockwell and Glynn Davis. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Lee Josey, Joe Allen Ellzey, Carroll Rockwell, Paula Goff, Inez Rice and Jerry Savell.
