Margaret Heiter

Mrs. Margaret Myrtle Heiter, age 77 of Gautier, MS. passed away March 24, 2008 in Houston, TX.; she was born October 23, 1930 in Pascagoula and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gautier. Margaret attended OLV Catholic School from elementary through high school and was affectionately referred to as "Margareet ". She was active in sports and played forward for the high school basketball team. One of her favorite teenage hangouts was Ed's Drive-in. She graduated from OLV in 1949. For a short time after graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper for Brumfield's in downtown Pascagoula. As an Army wife, she traveled extensively living in Kentucky, Georgia, Hawaii, Mississippi, California, Pennsylvania, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia. But Jackson County was always home. In 1979, she retired to Pascagoula and spent many wonderful years rekindling friendships and enjoying family. She also enjoyed volunteering for the school she loved ( now known as Resurrection Catholic School), giving of her time to encourage the children and assist the teachers. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Emma Loris; brothers James Loris and Johnny Loris; sister Marie Mothershed. Survivors include her son, Charles Edward Heiter of Honolulu, HI; daughter and son in law Cynthia Lee Allen and Ed Horan of Houston TX; sons and daughters in law Patrick Francis (Pamela) Heiter of Ocean Springs, MS; Matthew Stephen (Judy) Heiter of Memphis, TN; James Anthony (Jolie) Heiter of Wetumpka, AL; brother and sister in law Joseph (Dorothy) Loris of Pascagoula, MS; sister in law Mary Loris of Latimer, MS; lifetime friend Liz Brady of Pascagoula, MS; grandchildren Melissa Hollis, Brandon Heiter, Michelle Cadavero, Franklyn Allen, Michael Allen, Emma Heiter, Charles Heiter; step grandchildren Michael Patrick, Steven Patrick, Kayle, Kaysn and Hunter Burns; seven great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be Saturday, March 29h from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Father Louie Lohon officiating. Interment will be in Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Resurrection Catholic School, P.O. Box 368, Pascagoula, MS 39568.
