Maxine Bond

Mrs. Maxine Bond, 97 died July 27, 2009 at Magnolia Gardens Retirement Home in Greenville, MS. She was born June 5, 1912 in Gloster, MS, the oldest daughter of the late Rev. G.C. Seidenspinner and the late Frankie Toler Seidenspinner. Mrs. Bond graduated from high school in Edgefield, SC and MS Women's College (William Carey) in Hattiesburg, MS in 1932. She was a well known and respected educator for 35 years as a beloved English teacher in both the Moss Point and Pascagoula school systems. Always proud of her students, her greatest joy was her ability to touch many precious lives thru her teaching! Mrs. Bond was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Moss Point having served in many areas of her church. She was involved in many Civic Organizations: Moss Point Garden Club, Moss Point Women's Club, Fortnightly, D.A.R, M.T.A., N.T.A, M.R.T. and served as a volunteer with the Singing River Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Bond was preceded in death by her husband G.L. Bond and her son George Bond. Also, two sisters Mrs. Hazel Blades and Mrs. Claire S. McKellar and a brother H.L. Seidenspinner. She is survived by her daughter Ann Bond Beasley and husband Bill of Greenville, MS; her sister Dorris Seidenspinner Gray of Spartanburg, SC; sisters in law: Mrs. Lena Hughes of Ridgeland, MS, Mrs. June W. Bond of San Marcos, TX, Mrs. Christine Bond of Brandon, MS; and brother in law Lathon and Lula Mae Bond of Prattville, AL. Her grandchildren: Mrs. Beverly Beasley Mansour of Tupelo, MS, with children: Blake, Ann Sterling, Laine Alden and Bond Mansour, Mrs. Sherry Beasley Broussard of Baton Rouge, LA with children: Brighton and Aneliese Broussard, Mrs. Leslie Beasley Mitchell of Greenville, MS with children: Brandon and Bailey Mitchell, and Keith and Linda Bond of Helena, MS and children: Hannah and Jackson.She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 10:00 until 12:00 on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 from the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Perry and Rev. Lowell Grisham officiating. Interment will be at Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point, MS. Pallbearers will be: Joe D. Blades, Carol Canfield, Johnny Grafe, Jimmy Grafe, Ron Brun, Henry Odom, Charles Barber and Charles Harrell. Honorary Pallbearers: The Men of First Baptist Church and Chancellor Robert Khayat, one of her many former students. Mrs. Bond maintained a strong belief in education and the fundamentals of reading. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary donations be made to the Mrs. Bond for Books Literacy Foundation at the Ina Thompson Memorial Library in Moss Point, MS or to the charity of your choice.
