Norma Elizabeth Garrison Linton

Norma Elizabeth Garrison Linton, 81 passed away at her home in Moss Point, MS on February 24, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman Asa Garrison and Alva Elizabeth Brandt Garrison. Norma was born in Montgomery, AL on March 8, 1930 and raised in Corinth, MS before moving to the MS Gulf Coast. She received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Mississippi and a Master's degree in Library Science from the University of Southern Mississippi. She was employed by New Albany, Pascagoula and Moss Point Public School Systems for 38 years until her retirement. After her retirement, she was a volunteer reader at Resurrection Catholic Elementary School. She was a loyal member of Dantzler Memorial United Methodist Church in Moss Point. She was also an active member of the Moss Point Garden Club. She was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, friend and educator who never failed to put others before herself. Throughout her life, she remained loyal to her Ole Miss Rebels. She is survived by her three sons, Michael Jordan and wife Natalia (Martinez) of Richland, Wa; Dr. Garry Linton and wife Gina (Dreher) of Potomac, MD; Bruce Linton and wife Amy (Brabston) of Moss Point; along with grandchildren, Michael and Natalea Jordan, Jennifer (Dr. Ken) Smith, Brandt and Anna Laurie Linton; brothers, Dr. Garry Garrison, and wife Terri Jo of Montgomery, AL, Joseph Garrison and wife, Mary Frances "Fru" of Montgomery, AL; aunt Mae Garrison of Anderson, SC; in addition to many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held Monday, February 28 at 10:00 a.m. from Dantzler Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Greer officiating. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point, MS. Pallbearers will be Larry Brabston, Troy Butts, Rex Cooksey, Joe Kinsey, Michael Scott and Jerold Shepherd. Honorary pallbearer will be Charles Harrell. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Claretha McMillan and Winnie Williams for their gift of caregiving during the final days of Norma's illness.
