Stephen Martin Peters

Stephen Martin Peters, 62 passed from this life on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at his home in Moss Point. He was born March 1, 1949 in Pensacola, Florida. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in England and Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War. Steve was retired after thirty years of service as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He loved to fish, hunt and shrimp, especially with his father-in-law, Bill Nelson. Steve loved his family and loved doing things with them...lot's of vacations and good times. He loved to travel on long road trips with no specific destination down little back roads, through little old towns like out of the past. He made many trips to NASCAR races and spent many Sunday afternoons in front of the television watching them. Steve bravely battled his fight with cancer for the past three months with so much dignity, strength, pride, humor and positive attitude Dr. Clarkson offered He did it with a smile and never complained. He had the most wonderful positive attitude from the very beginning until the end. He was the perfect patient and so easy to help and take care of. He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Peters. Steve is survived by his wife, Teresa Findley Peters of Moss Point; sons, Christopher Stephen Peters and Jared Matthew Peters of Pascagoula; mother and step-father, Evelyn and Bill Nelson of Moss Point; step-daughters, Amy Findley of Pascagoula and Jaime and Todd Matthes of Ocean Springs; sister, Susan and Eddie Martinez, Jr. of Pascagoula;the mother of his children, Cathy Peters; nieces, Dee Anne and Michael Majure of Pascagoula and Leslie and John King of Philadelphia; great-niece and great-nephews, Cameron, Zack, Jacob, Lucas and many friends. Visitation will be Monday, September 19, 2011 from 6:00 until 9:00pm at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from the chapel of Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point. Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Martinez, Jr., Todd Matthes, Larry Brabston, Michael Majure, John King and Guy Moody. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society @ 1380 Livingston Lane Jackson, Mississippi 39213 or by calling (800) ACS-2345. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Hospice of Light for the loving care and dedication shown to them during a difficult time.Also, Dr. Clarkson and Cathy at the Singing River Cancer Center.
