Virgie H. Lawler

Virgie Ethel Hood Lawler was born August 27, 1922 to Daniel and Mae Hood in Anna, Illinois. She died peacefully on April 16, 2015 at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Mae Clardie Hood, her husband, Lynn Malcolm Lawler, her brothers: Hurtis and Amos Clardie, Arlie and James Hood and sister Maude Schuler and a granddaughter Peggy Marie Walls. She is survived by her daughters Judith Lynne Foster and Barbara (John) Trubee, her brother Charles Hood of Mound City, Illinois, and five grandchildren: Amy Wright Baker, Stephanie (Halsey) Cumbest, Melanie(Paul) Tristani, Michelle Walls, and Danny (Barbara) Walls. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Ashley (Brandon) Sanders, Sara Elizabeth Baker, Katie Walls, Paul Jacob Tristani, Mallory (Josh) McDonald, Ross Lawler Baker, Billy Sigrest, Kimber Cauley and Laura Leigh Cumbest and a great great granddaughter Lennon. Virgie began her life in Anna, Illinois. She married Lynn prior to World War II. She and Lynn had two beautiful daughters and soon moved to Mississippi. She often said once she came south she never wanted to be anyplace else. The joy and delight of her life was her family. The births of her grandchildren were the highlights of her life. Many wonderful memories of grandchildren parties, Saturday outings and Sunday lunch after church helped form the character of her beloved ones. The mutual love will be treasured forever. Virgie worked and retired from the Chancery Clerk's office after 30 years of service. She knew the land business like the back of her hand. She was helpful and efficient to many and loved by all coworkers. She was member of Caswell Springs United Methodist Church. Virgie loved her church family and was active her entire life in many ministries. Everyone knew that when she came to visit there would be cornbread and chocolate chip cookies. She never missed a chance to help others and her legacy will live on forever. More than anything she will be remembered as a loving and giving person. She was a lover of people, children, poetry and the wildlife in her backyard. We will celebrate her life on Monday, April 20th at Holder Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, Mississippi. Visitation with the family will be held from 9-11 am. The funeral service will begin at 11 am with the Reverend Rodney Coleman, Reverend H.W. Parker and Reverend Kevin Bradley. Burial will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula. Active pallbearers will be Charles Weaver, Ross Lawler Baker, Paul Jacob Tristani, Halsey Cumbest, Danny Walls, and Daryl Dryden. Honorary pallbearer will be John Trubee. --
