Faye Blossom Svensson

Faye Blossom Svensson, 85 passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010 in Pascagoula. She was born on December 3, 1924 in Utila, Bay Islands, Republic of Honduras to the late Raymond Whitefield and Sylvia Bush Whitefield. Faye married Sven J. Svensson on April 4, 1950 and they made their home in Key West, Florida. They later moved to Wildwood, New Jersey where their son, Raymond was born in 1953, the family moved to Pascagoula where their daughter Sylvia was born. Faye was a devoted wife and mother and grandmother. She loved her family, flowers and gardening, art, animals of all kinds, sailing and the ocean. Faye was a woman of faith and was a founding member of the Pascagoula Seventh Day Adventist Church. She remained devoted to her Lord and her church throughout her life. Faye was also active in the community through her work with the Red Cross which began in 1962 and continued throughout her life and included supervision of the Pascagoula School Grey Ladies, CPR Instructor, working the the Red Cross Blood Program, Red Cross Board Secretary and nursing home visitations. Faye also worked with the United Way and was awarded the United Way Volunteer of the Year. She was also an artist and past president of the Pascagoula Art Association. In addition, Faye gave of her time and talent to the area's young women by serving as a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Sven J. Svensson; parents, Raymond L. Whitefield and Sylvia M. Whitefiled; brother, D. Raymond Whitefield and sister, Edna D. Hill. Faye is survived by her son, Raymond (Krista) Svensson and daughter, Sylvia (David) Posey of Moss Point; her granddaughters to whom she was known affectionately as Nannie, Rebecca M. Posey of Mandeville, LA, Rachael E. Posey of Chapel Hill, NC and Sarah K. Posey of Moss Point; her sister, Mae Jackson of Utila, Bay Islands, Republic of Honduras; sister in law, Marie Appel of Trollhatten, Sweden and brother in law, Lars Svensson of Skovde, Sweden as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, June 17th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m Friday, June 18th from Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Victor Vaughan officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoluem at Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula. Arrangements by Holder-Wells Funeral Home, Moss Point, MS.
