Jean McIntyre

Jean Marilyn Burke McIntyre, 75, lost her battle with cancer and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Jean was born in Ellensberg, WA on December 6, 1938 to Floyd Burke and Nadine Lola Ferrier Burke Dooley. She spent her formative years in Seattle, WA, where she attended High School. Jean was an exceptionally loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many and was a devoted member of Escatawpa Baptist Church. She loved making homemade peanut brittle, ceramics and crocheting afghans, which she lovingly shared with friends and family from the east to the west coast. Jean’s special touch to the packaging of these gifts was a sprinkling of fruit tarts and other goodies. Jean also found camping and fishing to be a relaxing source of pleasure. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Burke and Nadine Lola Ferrier Burke Dooley; a brother, Wayne Erwin “Duke” Burke; and her in-laws, Etta Pate McIntyre and Eugene McIntyre. Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 55 years, Gerald B. (Jerry) McIntyre. She is also survived by one daughter, Vickie Christine McIntyre Leandro (Moss Point); one granddaughter, Jessica Nicole Leandro (Moss Point and Atlanta, GA); a sister, Connie Anderson (Squim, WA); a twin brother, Jerry Marvin (Cindy) Burke (Salmon, ID); brother-in-law, James E. (Gail) McIntyre (Birmingham, AL); sister-in-law, Norma Jean McIntyre Trice (Evansville, IN); nieces and nephews, Doug (Caroline) McIntyre, Zack McIntyre, Mary Gail McIntyre, Ronnie (Cindy) Keeton, Mark (Whitney) Keeton, David (Holly) Keeton, and cousins Irl Trice and Holly Trice. She is also survived by her cousins Peggy (Tom) Bullock and Mary Lea Barr; as well as numerous other friends and relatives. And last but certainly not least, the joy of our lives for the past several years, “Little Mac”. The McIntyre family would like to thank the Hospice of Light for the outstanding care they provided, and a special “Thank You” to Stacy Rouse. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Coastal Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS. Funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Todd Bowen officiating. Music will be presented by Ms. Lanette Coleman. Interment will be held at Serene Memorial Gardens, Moss Point, MS. Coastal Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS is in charge of arrangements.
