Marchie "Noonie" Walker Moore

Marchie Walker Moore passed away at 4:22 p.m. on January 20th 2016, at the Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula Mississippi. She was born September 9th, 1935 in Georgiana, Alabama to Claude and Eva Nell Walker. Marchie, also known as “Noonie,” to family and friends, was the second sibling of five children. Marchie met George Moore when she was 13. They dated for 3 years before getting married in 1952. They were married in Georgiana Alabama. George and Marchie honeymooned in Mobile, and never returned to Georgiana. Marchie worked in Mobile as a telephone operator, while George served in the Army from 1952-1955. George and Marchie moved to Kreole, Ms. George worked at International Paper Co. While living in Kreole, Marchie met Thelma White, who taught her how to crochet. Marchie was “hooked!” George and Marchie moved to Helena, Ms. in the late 50’s-1970. On Feb. 14th, 1970 George, Marchie and their 4 children moved to Wade, Ms. Marchie raised her children in Wade, and she started work at Mabry’s grocery store in Wade, and in Kreole throughout the 70’s. George, Marchie and children loved going to Three Rivers Assembly Of God Church in the 70’s-1987. In 1987, the Moore family went to Forts Lake Assembly Of God Church. During the 1990’s, George and Marchie went to Barton Assembly Of God. In the 80’s, Marchie began working for Punkin Patch Day Care. Marchie worked at Punkin Patch for many years, and became longtime friends with Marie Gandy, and Kathy Tolar, as well as many others over the years. Marchie loved life, loved the Lord, loved her family, and loved to crochet. Marchie loved game shows, reading and collecting books, loved working puzzle books, loved bingo, and loved getting her hair done every Thursday, by Sheila McCrory. Marchie, was preceeded in death by her husband, George Moore, her parents, Claude Walker, Eva Nell, and Step-Father Homer Sells, brother Harold and, Sister-in-law Margaret Walker, Myra and Bill Reynolds, and Roger (Bup) Walker.Survivors include: Brother Tony Walker and his wife, Sheila, Donnie and wife Tammy Moore, Ann and husband Richard Stallings, Randall and wife June Moore, Roger and Annette Moore, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 26th 2016 from 12:00 noon until 2:00pm at Coastal Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Cauley officiating. Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens in Moss Point.
