Wilbert Benis King Sr.

Wilbert “Benis” King, 84, of Hendersonville, TN (formerly of Moss Point, MS) went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2013. He was born November 21, 1928 in Moss Point, MS. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Raymond and Lezette King; first wife, Lois King; daughter, Patricia Holifield; sisters, Melva Vaughan, Ila Herndon; and Brother, Irving King. Survivors include his loving wife of 21 years, Elizabeth “Bettye” King; son, Wilbert Benis “Benny” (Donna); brother, Roy King; twin sister, Janiece Scott; sister-in-law, Elizabeth King; stepchildren, Tim (JoAnn) Harmon, and Beverly (Merrol); grandchildren, Christie (Sammy) Cuevas, Jennifer Bond, Kaycee (Kevin) King Morgan, and Rebekah King; great-grandchildren, Colton, Matthew, Nick and Kodi Cuevas, and Hunter Holifield. Benis retired from International Paper Company after completing 42 years of service. He enjoyed spending time in his shop doing wood-working and sharing his talents with many. One of his most memorable projects is the wooden cross that was placed in the hands of so many people. He also loved working on small motors after completing a course in small engine repair at the community college. A member of Faith United Methodist Church in Pascagoula and a longtime member of Kreole United Methodist Church in Moss Point, Benis enjoyed the sweet Christian fellowship. He lived a full and wonderful life, enjoying his family and every chance he had to reminisce with friends. The family wishes to thank all of those who have shown care and compassion to Benis throughout his life, and especially during the time of his illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to Faith United Methodist Church, 4005 Chicot Street, Pascagoula, MS 39581. Serving as Pallbearers are: George Holifield, Randy Busby, Terry Busby, Garry Busby, Greg King, and Arthur King. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home. Funeral Services will commence Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. located in the Holder-Wells Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Doc Tyndall officiating.
