William Ray Joiner

William Ray “Dickie” Joiner, 75, of Garner, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, with his daughters by his side, on Thursday, September 10, 2015. He was born October 7, 1939 in Stonewall, Mississippi. Mr. Joiner was a 1958 graduate of Stonewall High School. After high school he joined the Unites States Army and was an E4 Specialist (Corporal), serving in the 1st Calvary Division, B Company, and the 7th Calvary. He was the Company Clerk and also was on the Special Rifle Team, where he competed in Hawaii and Korea. Following his Honorable Discharge from the US Army in 1962, he went to work for Ingall’s Shipbuilding in Pascagoula as an Electrical Clerk and received multiple promotions to Rigger, Machinist, and finally Inspections. In 1974, he began working for Daniel’s Construction (Fluor Daniel) as a Mechanical Welding Inspector (Quality Control) and later became Quality Control Manager, where he retired in 1994. Mr. Joiner was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Higher Heights Church of God in Clayton, NC. Mr. Joiner was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Millene Hall Joiner; son, Randyl Ray Joiner; parents, William Earnest and Bessie Mae Joiner of Wade and Buddy and Lollie Pulley of Enterprise. He was also preceded by his brothers, David Pulley, Earl Stuart and Jerry Stuart; and sister, Penny Verley, Left to cherish memories of Mr. Joiner are daughters, Crystal “Krisi” McHenry and husband Joe, and Dana Trowell, both of Garner, NC; grandchildren, Randyl Thomas Joiner of Raleigh, NC, and Anzalyn Trowell, of Garner, NC; brothers and sisters, Larry Joiner (Linda) of Gulfport, Joann Coleman (Johnny) of Stonewall, Betty Shults (Ernie) of Enterprise, Brenda May of Meridian, Linda Bacon (Daniel) and Kathy Burnett (Robert), both of Grand Bay, AL, Bobby Stuart (Helen) of Moss Point, Bonnie Shiver (Frank) of Fernandina Beach, FL, Charlotte Rice (Slayton) of Saraland, AL, Kaye Grimes (Leland) of Irvington, AL, Sylvia Smith (Carl) of Bay Minette, AL, and Willie Weir, of Hurley, brother in law and sister in law, Ray and Sheila Hearndon, of Hickory, NC; “bonus” children, Dennis & Ada Francois and family and Rachel O’Neal, all of Raleigh, NC, and numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm at Coastal Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tim Maines officiating. Interment will follow in Serene Memorial Gardens, Moss Point, Mississippi. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Transitions Hospice Care of Raleigh, NC, The National Kidney Foundation, or The American Diabetes Association.
