Learn how to sell your unused cemetery grave spaces.

Step 1

Verify that you are the official grave deed owner. Contact cemetery staff to list your graves for sale. We recommend listing spaces at a discounted price.

Step 2

A buyer will contact staff to schedule an appointment, pay the $100 deed transfer fee per deed, and complete all required paperwork. We recommend that Buyers pay Sellers directly during appointment.

Step 3

All original owners must sign transfer forms over to buyers during appointment. New deeds will be created for the buyer.

Frequently asked questions

  • If two owners are listed on the deed, can one sell the graves alone?

    Both living owners must sign the deed transfer forms. However, if one owner is deceased then a death certificate is required as proof to allow the living owner full control.

  • Do I have to sign the deed transfer in person?

    A deed transfer form must be signed either in person with a cemetery staff as witness or you may sign the form with a notary near you as a witness. We require a color copy of your government photo ID or birth certificate that will match the name on the deed. 

  • My name has changed. What now?

    It is important to update all your records as soon as you can. You will be required to show your old identification and your new photo ID to allow the cemetery staff to update your deed.

  • Who owns the unused graves if both parents are deceased and multiple children are living?

    If owners did not reserve a space for a specific person in writing, then the unused graves must be given to the living heirs equally. The living heirs must all agree on how the spaces will be split or used. A death certificate is required as proof if an heir with equal rights is deceased.

  • Who claims grave space ownership in a divorce?

    We recommend that you speak with a divorce attorney for clear legal guidance. Cemetery staff will require both owners to sign the deed transfer forms to update the deed.

  • Can cemetery staff give the money to the buyer for me?

    No. Staff will not collect money for the seller from the buyer. Staff will only collect the $100 deed transfer fee per deed.

  • Can I buy graves sight unseen?

    Yes! You can buy graves without a tour of the cemetery or viewing the graves in person. Our staff can help complete your purchase online. 

  • Can I give my space to someone who passed away?

    Yes! You will need to sign a donation letter giving the one grave to the deceased. The $100 deed transfer fee is applied when giving spaces to another living person. 

  • Can I give my spaces to church or nonprofit?

    Yes! Owners must sign a donation letter to give the spaces to the church or nonprofit organization. Please speak with a tax specialist for guidance.
